Giving to ±¬ÁÏ¹Ï Global

FINAL Global giving

±¬ÁÏ¹Ï Global trips offer students a wide range of life-changing experiences. Some projects have a meaningful impact on the communities they visit, such as teaching women and girls valuable skills like shoemaking. Others support academic research, enabling PhD students to conduct vital fieldwork. Regular visits to the United Nations give students the rare opportunity to engage directly with global efforts around Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

While the destinations and activities vary, one thing remains consistent, these experiences often become some of the most memorable and formative moments of a student’s time at university.

For many participants, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds, this may be their first time traveling abroad, or their only experience outside the UK beyond family visits. International travel is often out of reach due to high costs, missed work opportunities, and the added challenges faced by students with caregiving responsibilities.

Supporting the ±¬ÁÏ¹Ï Global Opportunities Fund can supplement the costs associated with these trips, which are already part funded. This enables students to gain access to a world of new perspectives, an opportunity that might otherwise never be possible.

Through support from the Global Fund, we can support students like Celine, who visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

“It was quite an experience – a real eye-opener. We were sitting with people who are making huge decisions. It was empowering as a PhD student to be sitting in the same space in the UN as political leaders. They gave us plenty of food for thought."
